Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has launched a cashless payment system at its Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP), allowing passengers to pay parking charges through UPI, digital wallets, debit/credit cards, or FasTag automatic deductions. The move aims to enhance efficiency, reduce delays, and support the Government of India’s Digital India initiative.

In a significant step towards digital transformation, CSMIA has introduced an automated digital payment system at its Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP), enabling a smooth and seamless parking experience for passengers. This initiative eliminates the need for cash transactions, offering passengers a hassle-free process to enter and exit the car park. Passengers can now use UPI, debit/credit cards, digital wallets, or FasTag for payments, significantly reducing congestion and waiting times at the exit.

The cashless system is in line with the Government of India’s Digital India campaign, supporting a move towards a more efficient, paperless, and transparent process. All customer lanes at the MLCP are equipped with FasTag counters to facilitate a quicker and more streamlined entry and exit process. With FasTag being the preferred method of payment for 66 per cent of passengers, CSMIA is committed to reducing the usage of cash further, promoting digital payments.

Currently, 10-15 per cent of users opt for UPI, debit/credit card payments, and 5 per cent pre-book their parking slots. The airport aims to increase the adoption of digital payment methods, partnering with stakeholders to encourage further transition to automated systems. Those passengers who still prefer cash transactions can do so at designated central payment stations.
