How to Upgrade the Ice Staff – Black Ops 6 The Tomb

Within the next few weeks, Treyarch and Activision will be releasing a new update to Call of Duty Black Ops 6 and will be introducing the Directed Mode for The Tomb. Before the Direct Mode for the Tomb is released, we thought we’d share with you how to complete The Tomb Easter Egg steps. In order to complete The Tomb Easter Egg, you will need to build the Ice Staff. Once you have built the Ice Staff or gotten it out of the box, you will need to upgrade it. Below are the steps to upgrade the Ice Staff in order to complete The Black Ops 6 Zombies The Tomb Easter Egg.

The Ice Flames

In order to first start the Ice Staff upgrade process in The Tomb, you will need to freeze three Dark Aether lanterns (Purple Fire) in a 10-second window. To do this, you will need to find three lanterns in close proximity with one another or break a lantern in one of the areas to try and get them close enough together. Once all three are close enough, shoot them in rapid succession. The Ice Staff has a good bit of range so you can snipe the Lanterns if need be. You will know that you have completed the step when Archibald says over the comms, “Extinguished the flames, froze the crystals.”

If you fail to hit all three within the ten-second window, you will need to shatter the ice and start all over again; this may require you to reposition the lanterns.

Floating Symbols in Dark Aether

The next part can be a bit time-consuming so it is best to have someone hold a few zombies if they aren’t already. To start the next step you will need to head to the Dark Aether. In the center, the Dark Aether Nexus, you will see a bunch of rocks floating in the sky. Three of the rocks in the sky contain a special symbol that you will need to open a door. You will know that you have one of the right rocks because the symbol will start to glow and the rock will descend. You may need to shoot multiple to find the right one. Once the rock descends, note which symbol is shown on the rock. Seeing the symbol may be difficult because of your Field of View settings; in order to fix this, lower your FOV settings.

Once you have all three symbols, make sure to shoot them once again, to illuminate them. Once this has been completed, Archibald will reach out again over the comms and say “damn fine shooting”.

Next, you will need to figure out which 1 of the 4 portals has become sealed. At the center, you can see which door is closed by its color aura being gone; this will mean either the Blue (Dig Site), Red (Subterranean Temple), Green (Ossurary), or Yellow (Shrine of the Hierophants) door will be sealed. Once you have figured out which door is sealed, you will need to go to its real-world counterpart, so choose from one of the other three portals to get there. Upon arriving at the sealed door, you will notice that there are eight symbols. Shoot the three symbols that you saw on the floating rocks to unlock the door and begin the next step.

If you enter the combination correctly, you will land on a floating rock platform over the center of the map. If incorrectly done, you will freefall in the Dark Aether and potentially go down. Failing to get the symbols correct will result in you having to progress a round and redo the press. This can occur in the Escorting Orb Step as well.

Escorting and Charging the Dark Aether Orb

If you open the door successfully, you will now be on a floating platform with a Dark Orb to interact with. This process can be rather frustrating and may take a few attempts. Make sure everyone is in the Dark Aether and at the center before starting this process. Once everyone is ready, interact with the Orb. Interacting with the Orb will cause the platform to tilt forward and the Orb to start moving. You will need to follow the orb closely and kill zombies around it in order to make it more. If you get too far away from the orb, the process will end and the orb will float up into the sky. If this happens, you will need to redo the door step.

The best way to complete this step is by either using the Idle Eyes or Insta-Kill Gobblegums to kill zombies and not be overwhelmed. If done naturally, it is best to have multiple perks and potentially double-packed weapons. The orb will move through some tight corridors so be careful. Once the orb has almost completely circled the area,

You will know the Orb process is done when it reaches the center structure and the Lockdown ends.

Upgrading the Ice Staff

Once the orb is in the center of the Structure, you should now be able to upgrade the Ice Staff. Approach the center and interact with it to insert and upgrade the Ice Staff. With the upgraded Ice Staff, you should be able to use Ice Blast, Ice Storm, Sekhmet’s Vigor, and Healing Orb.
