OpenAI plans to open an office in Germany

OpenAI is set to expand its operations to Germany, with plans to open an office in Munich in the near future. This move was announced in a press release issued on Friday.
CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, expressed excitement about the expansion to Germany, citing the country’s reputation for technical expertise, academic excellence, and industrial innovation. Altman stated, “Opening our first office in Germany means we can help even more people, businesses, and institutions benefit from AI’s possibilities.”
According to the press release, OpenAI has been in discussions with German officials since 2023 regarding the establishment of a satellite office in the country. Germany currently holds the highest number of users, paying subscribers, and API developers utilizing OpenAI’s technology in Europe.
A spokesperson for OpenAI informed DailyTech via email that the new office in Germany will initially focus on hiring for go-to-market, global affairs, and communications roles. However, specific details regarding the number of roles available were not disclosed.
The decision to open an office in Southern Germany follows OpenAI’s expansion into other European locations such as Paris, Brussels, and Dublin, further solidifying its presence in the EU.
