Young Aides Emerge as Enforcers in Musk’s DOGE Team Efforts

In order to protect the team members, Musk allies have emphasized the importance of maintaining secrecy. This is to prevent them from becoming targets of unwanted attention.

Some of Mr. Musk’s aides have expressed reluctance to be included in government databases due to concerns about their personal information being leaked. As a result, they have taken steps to remove any trace of themselves from the internet, including editing their resumes and cleaning up their social media profiles.

When their identities have been exposed by media outlets like Wired, they have faced scrutiny from online investigators. Mr. Musk has incorrectly claimed that revealing their roles is a “crime,” leading X to take action against those who disclose their identities.

One of the aides, Marko Elez, resigned after it was revealed that he had posted racist comments on X. Despite this, Mr. Musk has reinstated him, with support from the president and vice president.

Mr. Musk’s team includes experienced advisers such as Brad Smith, Amy Gleason, and Chris Young, who bring a wealth of knowledge from both the public and private sectors.
