Resident Evil's multiplayer spin-off Re:Verse is shutting down later this year

Capcom has announced the closure of Resident Evil Re:Verse, the multiplayer spin-off that was introduced alongside Resident Evil Village. The game and its DLC will be removed from stores next month, with the servers being taken offline in June.

“Resident Evil Re:Verse was created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series, and the support from fans has exceeded our expectations since its release. As we enter a new phase for the series, we believe that Resident Evil Re:Verse has fulfilled its celebratory purpose,” stated Capcom in their announcement of the end of service.

“We appreciate the overwhelming support for Resident Evil Re:Verse and sincerely apologize for the disappointing news.”

Resident Evil Re:Verse and all associated DLC will be delisted from online stores on March 3rd at 9pm PST (March 4th at 5am GMT), with the servers shutting down on June 29th at 11:59pm PDT (June 30th at 8:59am BST). Once the servers are offline, the game will no longer be playable.

The multiplayer deathmatch game featured playable characters and items from the Resident Evil series, but it faced criticism upon its 2022 release. The decision to close it down aligns with Capcom’s history of such actions.

The mention of a “new turning point for the series” hints at potential announcements for Resident Evil 9 in the coming year.
