Marina Mabrey requests trade from Sun as mass exodus could continues

The Connecticut Sun Facing Player Exodus

Marina Mabrey is the latest player to request a trade from the Connecticut Sun this offseason, as reported by ESPN on Wednesday.

Her request adds to a growing list of players leaving the Sun, including Alyssa Thomas, Dijonai Carrington, Tyasha Harris, DeWanna Bonner, and Brionna Jones.

Despite adding Tina Charles, Diamond DeShields, and Natasha Cloud to the roster, the Sun have undergone significant changes, with coach Stephanie White also departing.

If Mabrey’s trade request is granted, it will mark her second trade in less than a year, following her move from the Chicago Sky to the Sun in 2024.

The departures of key players signal a rebuilding phase for the Sun, who have faced challenges such as sharing practice facilities with non-NBA partners, leading to disruptions like a 2-year-old’s birthday party during the 2024 playoffs.

Amidst the changes, the Sun declined a trade proposal from the New York Liberty involving Natasha Cloud, opting to focus on their rebuilding efforts.
