AT&T and Verizon customers experienced difficulties making calls to contacts on other carriers on June 4. The issue, as reported on Downdetector, began around 11AM ET for both AT&T and Verizon, peaking at approximately 5PM ET. Thousands of subscribers were impacted, with most reports originating from cities like New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, and Cleveland. A smaller number of T-Mobile and Cricket Wireless users also reported connectivity issues.

The Federal Communications Commission reassured the public by announcing that it was investigating reports of wireless call failures across multiple states. Both Verizon and AT&T denied experiencing a nationwide outage but acknowledged the challenge faced by their customers in contacting individuals on different networks. AT&T mentioned to CNN that 911 calls were unaffected during the disruption.

An hour later, AT&T confirmed the resolution of the issue, collaborating with the other carrier, likely Verizon, to address the problem. In the past, AT&T faced a significant outage affecting over 70,000 subscribers, while Verizon and T-Mobile customers also encountered challenges in reaching AT&T numbers. The root cause of the recent connectivity issue remains undisclosed.
