Reality star who married tattooed prisoner reveals ‘intimate’ sex life details
A reality star who met and married a prisoner behind bars has shared the details of how the couple maintains intimacy while her husband is incarcerated.
Lorra Gehrke, a German-born woman whose name translates to Laura in English, connected with her husband Joshua Stewart on a prison penpal site in 2023.
Gehrke, 26, joined the site while she was stuck in Dubai due to visa issues and quickly struck up a conversation with Stewart, who is currently serving time in the US for homicide and possessing a controlled substance.
The couple hit it off right away, spending up to 11 hours a day talking on the phone, which led Gehrke to fly to the US to visit the 21-year-old at the prison where he was incarcerated.
After six weeks, Stewart proposed to Gehrke, and the couple got married “without ever having sex” at Washington State correctional facility in June 2024.
Now, Gehrke has opened up about how she maintains intimacy with her husband despite the distance of nearly 5,000 miles between them.
“It’s so much more intimate somehow, even though it’s not intimate physically, it’s very intimate emotionally,” she explained in an interview with Truly.
The couple initially bonded over their mutual love of poetry online, with Stewart sending Gehrke handwritten poems.
After their connection grew through their shared notes, Gehrke traveled to the US to visit Stewart, admitting she was nervous the first time she went to the jail.
“Obviously I had some doubts, I was in love with him virtually but I didn’t know if I would feel it in real life,” she shared.
“But as soon as he came out, I felt so happy, everything was exactly as it was on the phone and the video calls.
“We were just vibing perfectly and everything was great.”
Gehrke also mentioned that her life had changed significantly since meeting her prison husband, as falling in love made her give up her luxury lifestyle for a more modest one.
“Before, I had everything when it comes to materialistic and financial stuff, I was traveling the world, I was doing everything you could imagine, but I never felt satisfied from within,” she shared.
“That was because I needed love, but since I found him, I realized that was what I was missing.”
Stewart has completed just over three years of his 7-year sentence, but Gehrke expressed hope that he will be released after 4 and-a-half years.
Once he is released, she plans to move to the US as Stewart will be living under certain conditions, including six months of house arrest.
Previously, Gehrke explained that she and her husband have to be creative when it comes to intimacy, noting that she has never seen him without his prison uniform on.
“I can send pictures, he can’t so I always get so mad, I have to use my imagination so intensely because I haven’t even seen him without his shirt on, not even that,” she told the Excuse My Friend podcast in December.
The couple has engaged in “phone sex,” she explained, adding that it was a bit “awkward” at first.
