When the crime comedy Knives On hit theatres in 2019, it exceeded everyone’s expectations by becoming a massive success. Drawing inspiration from Agatha Christie’s detective stories, the film showcased Daniel Craig’s versatility beyond James Bond and propelled Ana de Armas to stardom.

A unique take on the classic whodunnit genre, coupled with sharp social satire and a stellar cast, made Knives Out a major hit and caught the attention of Netflix. The streaming service acquired the rights to the sequels, with the follow-up premiering on Netflix in 2022.

The adventures of detective Benoit Blanc continue with more films in the pipeline, including the upcoming third installment, Wake Up Dead Man, AKA Knives Out 3.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery release date

Filming for Knives Out 3 commenced in June 2024 and wrapped up in August 2024. Netflix announced that Wake Up Dead Man is set to debut on the platform in 2025.

Rian Johnson, the series’ writer and director, is known for crafting metaphorical titles for his crime narratives.

The second installment, Glass Onion, alludes to a song by The Beatles and symbolizes something intricate yet transparent.

The upcoming third film in the Knives Out series, Wake Up Dead Man, takes its name from a track on the U2 album Pop.
