Gushing Over Magical Girls is getting an English print release
Gushing Over Magical Girls is set to receive an English print release thanks to J-Novel Club and the support of English-speaking fans.
The story revolves around Utena Hiiragi, a young girl who has a deep admiration for the Magical Girl genre. However, her world turns upside down when she is chosen by the forces of evil to become the villainess Magia Baiser.
Through the veil of transformation, Utena embarks on a journey of self-discovery, channeling her desires into actions against the magical girls she once idolized.
“Hi, I’m Hiiragi Utena. I’m a normal magical-girl-loving middle school girl—or at least I was, but then some talking mascot showed up out of the blue and cast a spell on me! Now’s my chance to join my beloved magical girls as…a villain? Hang on, something’s wrong with my outfit! This can’t be happening! Watch this shy magical-girl fan transform into a sadistic dominatrix! When good and evil collide, who will be the one to submit?!”
– J-Novel Club
The anime adaptation of the series premiered last year and has been confirmed for a second season. Due to its explicit content, the series is subject to censorship on most platforms.
And for our final print announcement…

While the manga has been exclusively available online, it remains uncertain if there will be censorship for Western audiences once the print version is released. However, there is no indication that J-Novel Club engages in voluntary censorship. In fact, fans of J-Novel Club appear to be vigilant in calling out censorship within the industry.
Fans play a crucial role in supporting niche titles, showcasing their influence in the industry.
The first volume of Gushing Over Magical Girls is scheduled to hit bookshelves in July 2025.
