The creator of Arctic Eggs is making a fishing game that I’m sure will be completely normal
The developer behind frying pan simulator Arctic Eggs is currently working on a fishing game that promises to capture the essence of angling in a realistic and authentic manner. Drawing inspiration from games like Animal Crossing, Sega Bass Fishing, and Webfishing, The Water Museum aims to create a unique fishing experience with elements of inventory management akin to Dredge. Additionally, players may encounter a mysterious character who hints at potential consequences and the possibility of the ocean turning red. However, these details are still subject to change. Rest assured, everything is under control, and the fish are likely safe to consume.
Based on a brief exploration of The Water Museum’s social media profiles, it appears that the fishing game will involve activities such as selling fish, interacting with NPCs at stalls, and engaging in branching conversations. Contrary to speculation, the game is clarified to not be a horror-themed experience.
While it’s still early in development, I appreciate developers sharing their progress, even if features showcased may evolve over time. It’s also amusing to witness quirky bugs like the attempted implementation of “triple-A immersive wall-touching technology”.
Notably, a previous demo from the developer, Eating Nature, featured a unique gameplay experience where players embody a fish in a pond, attempting to catch ants. Despite its prototype nature, the game showcased the distinct visual style seen in Arctic Eggs.
In Arctic Eggs, players encountered a variety of items in their frying pan, including fish, eggs, bacon, cigarettes, and cockroaches. Although not reviewed by RPS, the game impressed with its engaging NPC dialogue reminiscent of classic RPG interactions. The eccentricities of the characters, living in a concrete polar apartment complex and craving cooked glass fragments, added a surreal touch to the gameplay.
Details regarding the release date or title of the fishing game remain scarce, which is typical for projects in the creative process. Stay tuned for updates, as we may choose to share significant developments in the future. Your emotions are inconsequential; we will disclose information as deemed necessary. Farewell.
