Split Fiction is the new co-op game from Josef Fares - and he only used a few rude words to announce it

Josef Fares’ Hazelight Studios are known for their expertise in co-op action games, and their upcoming title, Split Fiction, is generating a lot of buzz. With only six weeks left until its release, the team has unveiled a new trailer showcasing more co-op gameplay and the diverse gameplay styles players can expect.

The game follows Mio and Zoe, characters named after Fares’ daughters, who are authors of different genres of fiction. As they are pulled into their own stories, players will experience a blend of science fiction and fantasy elements, creating an engaging mix of genres.

This latest trailer highlights various levels, starting with a gravity-themed level set in a futuristic cyberpunk city. Players will face off against giant mechs and engage in gravity-defying action, including thrilling motorbike sequences reminiscent of Ghostrunner.

Another showcased level delves into fantasy, where players can shapeshift into different creatures like a massive ape-like monster or a swift water-dweller. Collaborative gameplay is key as players navigate through this fantastical world, similar to the dynamic gameplay found in It Takes Two.

The trailer also teases additional content such as side quest portals that lead to new worlds and gameplay styles. While these quests are optional, they offer exciting opportunities for players to further explore the game’s universe.

Split Fiction is set to launch on March 6, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through various platforms. Players can enjoy the game with a friend for free across different platforms, thanks to the Friend’s Pass feature.
