Teva Auroris hiking boots tested and reviewed
Teva is best known for its iconic sandals, but now they have ventured into winterized hiking boots. I’ve been testing them out during the coldest part of winter, and they have proven to be a reliable winter boot option. Available in both Men’s and Women’s sizes, these boots are a great addition to Teva’s lineup.
Verdict: Made with high-end materials like leather, suede, and riptop, these boots are equipped with heavy 200g Thinsulate insulation for warmth and waterproofing. While they may require some breaking in, they are overall a solid choice for winter hiking, even on challenging terrain.

How we tested the Teva Auroris hiking boots
Over the course of approximately 20 hours in Upstate New York’s winter conditions, my colleague and I put these boots to the test. From hiking to chores, and even standing in a puddle for 15 minutes to evaluate their waterproofing, we wore wool socks underneath as we would with any hiking boots. Both testers found the boots to be true to size.
Fit
As a size 12 Men’s, the boots fit as expected for me. While I would appreciate a wide size option, the flexible sock and covered seams and zippers prevented any friction during movement. The sole’s shape took some time to get used to, but after a few wears, they felt comfortable. The ankle support features speed hooks and D-rings for easy lacing, and the included round laces are durable.
Support and traction
Featuring a layered sole with memory foam, durable foam, and a footbed cover, these boots offer substantial padding for comfort over rugged terrain. The thick sole provides a winter boot feel, and the ankle support, combined with the lockdown lacing, offers great stability. The dual-lug pattern provides good traction, although there are boots with more aggressive grip for extremely slippery conditions. The boots are compatible with spikes for added traction when necessary, and the White Spider Rubber outsole is both grippy and durable.
Warmth and waterproofing
With 200g Thinsulate insulation, these boots are ideal for keeping feet warm in chilly temperatures. They performed well in 20-degree weather when paired with warm socks. The insulation strikes a good balance, providing warmth without being overly heavy like some boots with 400g Thinsulate. Additionally, the boots held up well in our waterproofing test, keeping feet dry even in ankle-deep water for 15 minutes.
Final results
Teva’s winter boots are a solid choice for cold weather hikes. While they may not be designed for extreme conditions, they excel at keeping feet warm and dry during typical winter activities. These boots offer a good balance of performance and aesthetics, making them a versatile option for winter adventures.
