Mario Kart

In the most recent announcement regarding the Nintendo Switch 2, eagle-eyed fans have noticed something peculiar about the Mario Kart game that was showcased.

Although there has not been an official confirmation of a new game yet, speculations are running wild on the internet about the possibility of Mario Kart 9 (or perhaps a remastered version of Mario Kart 8).

You can watch the gameplay video below (starting at around 1:40).

The video showcases what seems to be a brand new track, featuring a race through a desert highway with a western-themed “Yoshi’s Diner” situated on the side of the road.

A new installment of Mario Kart is long overdue. Just to make everyone feel a little old, it’s worth noting that Mario Kart 8 was originally released in 2014 on the Wii U, making it a decade-old game.

Information regarding the potential new game is scarce at the moment, but there are expectations for a Nintendo Direct focused on the Nintendo Switch 2 on April 2 (a clever move to avoid April Fool’s Day). Hopefully, we will receive more details about the launch titles for the Switch 2 during that event.

Patiently waiting for Switch 2 news can be a bit frustrating, but we’ve all become accustomed to the anticipation. A little more waiting won’t hurt.
