Conor McGregor, Heat sued for alleged sexual assault at 2023 NBA Finals game
Conor McGregor Faces New Civil Suit Over Alleged Sexual Assault at NBA Finals
Conor McGregor, the former UFC star, is facing a new legal battle following allegations of sexual assault at the 2023 NBA Finals. McGregor was previously found liable for a similar incident in 2018 and is now being sued by an anonymous woman for an alleged assault at the Kaseya Center on June 9, 2023.
The lawsuit, filed in Florida, alleges that McGregor committed battery and accuses the arena of gross negligence for serving him alcohol despite being intoxicated. The incident allegedly occurred after McGregor had participated in the in-game entertainment, which included an altercation with the Miami Heat mascot.
In addition to McGregor, the Miami Heat and Basketball Properties LLC, which operates the Kaseya Center, are also named as defendants in the lawsuit. The accuser claims that McGregor forcibly attempted to assault her in a bathroom at the arena without her consent.
Despite video evidence of the incident, McGregor has denied the allegations, calling them a “shakedown.” The lawsuit seeks compensatory damages for medical treatment, along with other relief, totaling more than $75,000.
James Dunn, the accuser’s lawyer, stated that the decision to pursue a civil case was made after the Miami-Dade County Prosecutor’s office declined to pursue criminal charges. The accuser is concerned about the impact the case may have on her career on Wall Street.
In a separate incident during the NBA Finals, McGregor was involved in an altercation with the Heat mascot, resulting in the mascot being hospitalized. McGregor was promoting a pain relief spray at the event.
Following the previous sexual assault case, McGregor has faced financial consequences, including losing sponsorships from alcohol and grocery companies. He was also ordered to pay damages to the victim of the 2018 incident.
