Shiftall Reveals Quest 'Expansion' Controller, New SteamVR Controllers

Shiftall, a company based in Japan known for creating MeganeX PC VR headsets, unveiled two new VR controller accessories at CES 2025. These include a SteamVR-compatible controller for PC VR and a unique add-on for Quest Touch controllers that provides users with a scroll wheel and extra buttons.

Shiftall is introducing GripVR, a standard PC VR controller designed for SteamVR Tracking systems (1.0, 2.0). GripVR features a standard button layout with AB/XY input buttons, pressable joysticks, triggers, and grips, all equipped with capacitive touch sensors.

The GripVR controller offers an eight-hour battery life and can be recharged via its USB Type-C port. It is compatible with various SteamVR headsets, including Valve Index, HTC Vive, and Shiftall’s MeganeX superlight “8K” headset.

GripVR is expected to launch in the summer of this year with an estimated price range of $299-$399.

AddCon

Shiftall also revealed AddCon, a unique attachment for the left-hand Touch controllers of Quest 3/3S/Pro. This add-on provides a wheel and buttons to enhance the controller’s functionality, making it easier to interact with 2D UI elements and specific controls in VRChat.

AddCon includes a shift function activated by a capacitive sensor on the pinky finger rest, allowing users to switch between different command sets. It offers over 14 assignable inputs and can be configured using a dedicated PC application, which can also serve as an OSC command transmission device for standalone VRChat setups, according to Shiftall.

AddCon connects to Quest via Bluetooth LE or GX6/GX2 dongle and charges through its USB Type-C port. Scheduled for release in the summer of 2025, AddCon is priced at $69 for the single left-hand Touch accessory.

Last year, Shiftall announced its latest MeganeX superlight “8K” PC VR headset, set to ship in early 2025 at a price of $1,899. This headset features a slim and lightweight profile with dual 4K high-resolution OLED panels.

As with our coverage of similar marketing claims, we have placed the “8K” designation of the MeganeX superlight 8K in quotes to indicate that the headset’s specifications actually include dual 3,552 × 3,840 OLEDs.
