Indie developer Voidmaw has announced a playable demo for Katanaut is coming soon, giving players a first chance at the relentless action-roguelite game.

Katanaut is getting a playable demo for PC (via Steam) sometime in early January 2025.

“Katanaut is a mix of brutal combat and creeping dread,” says Eugene, the solo developer behind Voidmaw LLC. “Blending cosmic horror with fast-paced action has been my vision from the start, and with the demo coming soon, I’m excited for players to experience the chaos, strategy, and madness firsthand.”

Here’s a rundown on the game, plus a recent trailer:

In this eldritch-infused action-roguelite, players take on the role of a katana-wielding astronaut battling otherworldly horrors in a decaying space station haunted by unspeakable terror.

Combining skill-based combat, roguelite progression, and a dark, atmospheric setting, Katanaut challenges players to slice their way through waves of nightmarish foes while uncovering the station’s eldritch mysteries. Each run is unique with a mixture of handcrafted and procedurally generated biomes, ensuring every encounter feels fresh, intense, and haunting.
