Prisma Preview and Q&A – Niche Gamer
Have you ever looked at a photo you took and felt transported back to that moment? Memories flood in, and you can almost feel the same emotions. A photo captures a slice of time, a glimpse into another world. This concept of alternate realities and choices that shape our paths is the foundation of Dreams Uncorporated’s upcoming game, Prisma.
Prisma delves into the idea of parallel universes, where every decision leads to a different outcome. The game follows a girl with a mystical camera that bestows magical abilities, all thanks to a Prism Shard within it. Set in the enchanting world of Domacon, where magic is commonplace, players will explore unseen realms by capturing the essence of the world through the lens of the camera.
Unlike traditional action-adventure games, Prisma focuses solely on Alma and her journey. The supporting characters and adversaries in the game are alternate versions of Alma, each shaped by their choices. Even the NPCs in the world are reflections of Alma’s diverse personas, showcasing the intricate web of choices we make.
Interactions with various versions of Alma will shape the narrative, unlocking new quests, abilities, and pathways. Every decision made influences the bond with Alma and her companions, leading to a deeper understanding of their backstories and motivations.
Combat in Prisma adopts a JRPG-style approach, where strategic thinking and teamwork are key. By leveraging Alma’s camera lens, players can alter attack styles and trajectories, affecting multiple enemies simultaneously. Each Alma possesses unique skills and abilities that can be enhanced by upgrading their Prism Shards, offering a dynamic combat experience.
Enemies in Prisma draw inspiration from Latin American folklore, adding a cultural flair to the game. Combat mechanics resemble Persona games, with a focus on tactical decision-making and adapting to enemy strategies. The reflect system adds another layer of depth, challenging players to devise innovative tactics.
