Obsidian Entertainment has released a new trailer for The Outer Worlds 2, announcing that the RPG sequel will be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2025. The game will also be available on Game Pass from day one.

Despite Microsoft’s acquisition of the studio in 2018, The Outer Worlds 2 will not be exclusive to Xbox. The game will be published by Xbox but will be released cross-platform, following the original game’s release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It is unclear whether the release will be simultaneous or if there will be timed exclusivity.

The Outer Worlds 2 will maintain the tone and style of the original game while expanding on its scope. Players will explore the new colony of Arcadia as an Earth Directorate agent investigating the mysterious rifts threatening the galaxy.

The game will feature various factions competing for power, allowing players to influence events based on their skills and choices. Players can recruit companions to aid them on their journey, adding depth to the RPG experience.

In addition to The Outer Worlds 2, Obsidian is also set to release Avowed, a fantasy RPG adventure, in February. The Outer Worlds 2 will complement this release, providing a diverse range of gaming experiences from the studio.

For fans eager to dive deeper into The Outer Worlds universe, a dedicated episode within the Secret Level anthology series on Amazon Prime Video will premiere on December 17th. This episode will explore a short story set between the events of The Outer Worlds and its sequel.
