Ahead of peak season, some IndiGo flights shifted to Delhi airport's Terminal-1, ET TravelWorld

Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) is relocating some flights from Terminal 2 (T2) to T1 to alleviate congestion ahead of the peak winter travel season starting this weekend. T1 had been handling 43 domestic flights daily, with an additional 11 flights from IndiGo now being moved from T2 to T1. Comments were requested from DIAL and IndiGo regarding the number of flights shifted but were not received by the time of publication.

IndiGo announced on Twitter: “… a few of our flights have been transferred from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1, Delhi. We have informed customers about this change through their registered contact details. The latest terminal information can also be found on our website.”

T1 had been closed following an incident in June. A section of T1 reopened in mid-August, operating at reduced capacity. The government instructed DIAL to initiate repairs on T1, with a repair and strengthening plan developed by Larsen & Toubro and reviewed by IIT Delhi. This winter poses challenges for airlines and passengers at the busiest airport in the country, following last winter’s fog landing issues and the current terminal capacity constraints due to the June incident.
