Pokemon's next adventure is a team-up with the iconic Wallace and Gromit stop-motion studio Aardman, though you'll be waiting quite a while for it

The Pokemon Company and Aardman have announced a surprising collaboration for a “special project”, but fans will have to wait a while for more details.

Aardman is known for its exceptional animation work, with a distinct style that sets them apart. The news of their partnership with The Pokemon Company has sparked excitement among fans, although the nature of the project remains a mystery. It’s unclear whether it will be a film or a TV show.

Taito Okiura, VP of marketing and media at The Pokemon Company, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “This is a dream partnership for Pokémon. Aardman are masters of their craft, and we have been blown away by their talent and creativity. What we have been working on together ensures our global Pokémon fans are in for a treat!”

Sean Clarke, managing director of Aardman, also shared his excitement, saying, “It’s a huge honour to be working with The Pokémon Company International – we feel sincerely privileged to be trusted with bringing their characters and world to life in a brand-new way. Bringing together Pokémon, the world’s biggest entertainment brand, together with our love of craft, character and comedic storytelling feels incredibly exciting.”

While it’s uncertain if the project will be a game, fans are hopeful given Aardman’s previous involvement in the gaming industry. This collaboration marks the latest venture into stop-motion Pokemon projects, following last year’s Pokemon Concierge by Dwarf Studios. As a fan of stop-motion animation, the anticipation is high, despite the two-year wait for more information.
