Final Fantasy creator's artful RPG Fantasian Neo Dimension launches on PC today

Developed by Mistwalker, a studio founded by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, Fantasian was initially launched on Apple Arcade in 2021 and was exclusive to the platform. However, Mistwalker and Square Enix have collaborated to release the RPG for PC users under the title Fantasian Neo Dimension. The game is available starting today for those interested in embarking on an interdimensional adventure to recover lost memories.

In Fantasian Neo Dimension, players take on the role of Leo, who wakes up in a mysterious land filled with machines and no memory of how he got there. He soon learns that the machines are infected with a dangerous virus called “Mechteria,” posing a threat to both humans and robots. It’s up to Leo and his companions to engage in turn-based battles and rid the world of the virus.

Fantasian’s unique approach to turn-based combat allows players to target multiple enemies in different formations, such as a straight line, arc, or area-of-effect blasts. Players can also ‘collect’ random encounters while exploring the world, enabling them to face multiple foes at once for greater rewards – a convenient time-saving feature.

The game’s blend of handmade dioramas and CG visuals creates a visually striking aesthetic for exploration.

For fans eager to learn about the new features, Fantasian Neo Dimension offers new Japanese and English voiceovers, additional difficulty options, 4K resolution support, and the ability to switch between the original battle music and tracks from the Final Fantasy series.

You can purchase the game on Steam.
