Alliance Air commences flights between Guwahati and Ziro, ET TravelWorld News, ET TravelWorld

Alliance Air has launched a new flight route connecting Guwahati in Assam to Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh, with operations scheduled twice a week, an official announced on Tuesday. Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Vivek HP shared the details, noting the potential benefits for tourism and healthcare access in the region.

The flights will operate on Mondays and Wednesdays. Departures from Guwahati are scheduled for 12:10 pm, with arrivals in Ziro at 1:25 pm. The return flight will leave Ziro at 1:50 pm and reach Guwahati by 3:05 pm, providing a convenient connection for passengers.

Ziro, renowned for its picturesque landscapes and cultural heritage, is gaining recognition as a hub for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism.

Vivek HP highlighted that the direct flights are expected to bolster tourism in the region, drawing visitors for business and leisure alike. MICE tourism typically involves destinations equipped to host large-scale events and conferences, and Ziro’s growing infrastructure positions it as an emerging player in this sector.

The connectivity is also anticipated to benefit residents requiring specialised medical care, as it shortens travel time to major cities with advanced healthcare facilities. This new route underscores the broader effort to enhance regional connectivity in the Northeast, fostering economic development and improving access to essential services.

Ziro’s inclusion in Alliance Air’s network aligns with the central government’s regional connectivity scheme, UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik), aimed at making air travel affordable and accessible in underserved areas. The move is expected to bring more tourists to the valley, known for its UNESCO-recognised Ziro Music Festival and vibrant Apatani culture. This initiative highlights the importance of linking remote areas to urban centres, supporting both regional development and the growth of India’s aviation sector.
