Gran Turismo has been a cornerstone of racing for PlayStation enthusiasts for the past thirty years. To celebrate its significance, Sony and Polyphony Digital have created a new free-to-play experience called My First Gran Turismo.

My First Gran Turismo will launch for free on both PS5 and PS4 via the PlayStation Store on December 6th at midnight local time.

The goal of this game is to honor the original entry in the series, while showcasing it through the modern game engine of Gran Turismo 7. According to series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, it is designed to be “approachable and immersive, suitable for everyone regardless of age or driving skill level.”

The game will feature three races, three time trials, and three Music Rally stages, as well as a set of License Tests to complete. There are 18 cars available, and the tracks include Kyoto Driving Park, Deep Forest Raceway, and Trial Mountain Circuit.

As an added bonus, My First Gran Turismo fully supports PlayStation VR 2 on PS5.

This serves as a tribute to the franchise’s history, although it appears to be essentially a demo for Gran Turismo 7. Nevertheless, having even a small taste of GT7 racing accessible to everyone on PS4 and PS5 is a fantastic opportunity.
