Amazon unveils its new family of Nova foundational models

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy introduced Amazon Nova at the re:Invent conference, showcasing six new text, image, and video generation models.

The Amazon Nova family includes Nova Micro, Nova Lite, Nova Pro, Nova Premier, Nova Canvas, and Nova Reel, each serving specific functions within the realm of AI generation.

The models are optimized in 15 different languages, with varying capabilities such as context windows and token handling.

Nova Canvas allows users to create and manipulate images through natural language prompts, while Nova Reel is designed for generating short video clips with camera motion control.

Jassy emphasized the cost-effectiveness and speed of the models, positioning them as valuable tools for various tasks.

Micro, Lite, Pro, Canvas, and Reel models are currently accessible to AWS customers, with Premier expected to launch in Q1 2025.
