5 major Apple product releases that are still on my radar for 2025

Summary
- There are several exciting Apple hardware announcements that we expect to see in 2025.
- The year is flying by quickly, but there are still plenty of opportunities for Apple to surprise us with new hardware upgrades.
- Perhaps most enticing of all is the long-rumored release of an iPhone 17 ‘Air’ or ‘Slim’ model this fall.
So far, 2025 has been filled with plenty of exciting tech announcements, reveals, and product launches. In the past few weeks alone, we’ve seen the release of the mid-range Google Pixel 9a smartphone, as well as the full reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 hybrid gaming console.
Spring has only just officially sprung, and the 2025 calendar year is still less than 30 percent complete. In other words, there’s an abundance of time for companies to launch new hardware products over the next several months.
One such company, Apple, is rumored to be working on quite a few hardware refreshes for later this year. While the tech giant’s upcoming WWDC25 conference will be focused primarily on software, it’s a safe bet that new iPhone models and more will land sometime in the fall.
Here are 5 major Apple product releases in particular that I’m looking forward to in the coming months.

The iPhone 17 Air is shaping up to be the slim smartphone Apple wished it released a decade ago.

The revival of super-slim smartphones
The rumor mill has been swirling for months with regard to the so-called iPhone 17 Air. Thin is in again, apparently, and Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch a premium iPhone with a chassis as thin as 6mm or less. This would make for the thinnest iPhone to date, besting the current record holder, the 6.9mm thin iPhone 6 from 2014.
Rumors indicate that the iPhone 17 Air will ship with a single rear camera unit — a concession likely made in the name of svelteness. Elsewhere, we expect the return of the dedicated Camera Control button, the Action Button, the Dynamic Island, USB-C, and Face ID sensors.

Is Apple redesigning the AirTag 2? Here’s what the rumors say
The AirTag 2 is rumored to release in 2025 with interesting internal changes.

A long-awaited tracker device upgrade
Apple has long been rumored to be working on a successor to its popular AirTag tracker product, and it’s looking like 2025 might finally be the year we see an official refresh hit the market. Rumors suggest that a next-generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip might be implemented, which would result in a superior tracking range across the board.
In an attempt to tamper-proof the product, Apple might also be redesigning the internals to make it more difficult to remove or disable the built-in speaker — a welcome safety and anti-stalking preventative measure. Unfortunately, there’s no indication of any external design refresh, despite some excellent concept art from the likes of System Settings over on X.
Elsewhere, industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously reported that a next-generation AirTag might arrive with native Vision Pro support. It’s unclear exactly how spatial computing might be integrated into the AirTag experience, but bolstered cross-device ecosystem compatibility remains a distinct possibility here.

Inching ever closer towards game console territory

The existing Apple TV 4K set-top box is in need of an update, having been released all the way back in late 2022. Apple is rumored to be working on an iterative spec refresh for the device, which would likely involve replacing the outdated A15 Bionic processor with the far more contemporary A18 chipset.
This newer SoC would allow for Apple Intelligence AI features to be incorporated into the mix, though details on the exact implementation are unclear. I can’t imagine wanting to generative emoji on my TV screen, but perhaps Apple’s updated and more useful Siri will have finally launched by the time this new Apple TV hits the market.
Aside from new AI tools, a more capable processing package might result in a doubling down on ‘console-quality’ gaming.
