3 Keys to Make Time for Your Goals!givelp

The issue begins with the mindset of having time rather than making time.

We all have the same 24 hours in a day, but it’s how we utilize that time that sets us apart.

If you don’t prioritize the tasks that will help you achieve your goals, you can’t expect to see the desired results.

Whether you aspire to write a book, lose weight, or start a business, you must prioritize the actions that will lead you to those outcomes!

Here are my three keys to help you break free from the cycle of “not having enough time”.

Key # 1: Uncover the root cause of your “not having enough time” mindset

A few years back, I had a client who recently became a parent. She wanted help in shedding the post-pregnancy weight. When we started working together, she expressed how challenging it would be to make time for her weight loss plan with a young child to care for.

We decided to analyze how she spent her time by documenting her activities hour by hour when she got home.

Upon our next meeting, she admitted, “I’m almost ashamed to show you my notes”.

“Why?” I inquired.

“Because through this exercise, I realized how easily I get sidetracked. I start one task, get distracted, move on to another, and end up with a bunch of unfinished tasks by the day’s end, feeling dissatisfied,” she confessed.

In essence, her perceived lack of time was actually due to her tendency to get distracted easily.

What’s the underlying cause of your “not having enough time”?

Be honest with yourself.

Understanding how you spend your time can help you prioritize what truly matters in your life.

Once my client acknowledged that her daughter’s well-being and her own health were priorities, she discovered that she had ample time to cater to both. Anything else could be postponed or delegated.

Key # 2: Establish organization

To make time, you need to get organized.

I won’t sugarcoat it—maintaining a healthy lifestyle, exercising, and tending to your responsibilities require time.

Therefore, you must allocate time for these activities. There are no shortcuts!

Consider what would happen if your heart decided to take shortcuts!

Your health-related actions are as crucial as your heart’s function in keeping you alive. Leaving it to chance is not an option!

For instance, one of my clients, Marilyn, prepares her lunch for the following day every night before bed.

She noticed that consuming home-cooked meals left her feeling satisfied and energized, unlike when she dined out and experienced fatigue, digestive issues, and mood swings.

Making a home-cooked lunch a priority in her life prompted her to take the necessary steps to ensure it happened.

Would she prefer lounging on the couch watching a movie or scrolling through social media? Probably! But her clarity on her goals and desired feelings motivated her to prioritize accordingly. This leads me to the third key.

Key # 3: Envision the end goal

To make your time worthwhile, you need to visualize the end goal.

When setting a goal, start by envisioning the end result in great detail.

When I speak with potential clients, I ask them to define their desired outcomes and imagine how achieving them would feel!

Take a moment to close your eyes and immerse yourself in the emotions of achieving your goal.

How would you feel physically, emotionally, and spiritually?

Would your interactions and self-perception change?

Visualizing the experience of your transformed self is crucial because change often involves tasks you may not enjoy!

My colleague Nory Pouncil emphasizes that individuals believe they should love every beneficial activity, and when they don’t, they give up.

Why?

Because discomfort arises.

To break free from stagnancy, stop fixating on loving every action that fosters self-improvement.

Let go of the expectation that if you don’t love it, you should quit.

By releasing this pressure, you can cultivate consistency and confidence in your ability to achieve your goals.

Engaging in this process often sparks a sense of possibility in potential clients. Can you see it too?

One of my mentors once emphasized that when offering transformation, you must convey that individuals are deserving of it and can reach the other side.

Here’s one final crucial tip:

You must believe that you are worthy of pursuing your desired endeavors, whether it’s health, writing, entrepreneurship, parenthood, or any other goal.

You must convince yourself of your worth!

Without this conviction, you won’t find time, get organized, or feel truly motivated.

In my experience, success and change begin with creating time and space in your life and mind for your aspirations.
